The renowned Creative Director Yu Yat Lok Calvin has taken part in the productions of Botticelli’s Venus: The Life and Times of a Goddess – Art Exhibition, American Next Top Model – MGM Version, etc. He is now the Creative Director of D3E Art Ltd. He created an artwork named The Reflection of H2O for William Shum, the Founder of the Hong Kong tourbillon brand Memorigin. “In my impression, William is a wise and hard-working entrepreneur. As he believed in Buddhism since childhood, his thoughtfulness and optimism have inspired me to create The Reflection of H2O. This artwork brings a message: we would eventually reach the fountain of hope along the path filled with lotus flowers.” Memorigin presents this art in the form of tourbillon watches as a way to convey its meaning to the public.

The Reflection of H2O Tourbillon has a skeleton dial design that embodies the opposing concepts of East & West and black & white. It implies that we have to figure out the aesthetics of life with our wisdom. Calvin selected a horse to represent William’s diligence and intelligence. The horse’s face on the watch features the symbol of yin-yang, on which the “yang” fish refers to the auspicious purple dragon or royalty in Chinese; the “yin” fish represents the lotus flower, symbolizing the ultimate purity of heart and mind. The water on its background is the fountain of hope created by Memorigin, which represents the gathering of all sages. The reflection of the mountain is shaped like a lotus flower.

The watch is equipped with a manual-winding tourbillon movement which provides 40 hours of power reserve and a vibration frequency of 28,800 oscillations per hour. Several hundred intricate components make up the tourbillon, and it takes exquisite craftsmanship to assemble because the gears are interconnected. As written by Laozi in Tao Te Ching, all things are complementary to one another. Their underlying characteristics will allow them to exist in harmony and balance. The Reflection of H2O Tourbillon brings to mind the Taoist principle of "dynamic balance" in all aspects of life.
