As a strong supporter of local athletes, the Hong Kong tourbillon brand Memorigin has collaborated with elite athletes, such as snooker player Marco Fu and bowling player Wu Siu Hong, to design and launch new watches. The LOK16SPIRIT Tourbillon is a football-themed timepiece co-designed by Memorigin and professional footballer Mark Tan Chun Lok. At the age of 19, Mark was appointed as captain of the Hong Kong football team by his coach. The versatile midfielder is currently playing for the Chinese Super League club Guangzhou City and is the first Hong Kong player to play as a starter in the league, demonstrating his exceptional talent on the field.
Mark hoped to convey his passion and enthusiasm for football through the watch. "I remember I played football with my father and brother at the sports ground near my home when I was young, and that's how I was discovered and selected for the Hong Kong Youth Team. Then, I signed my first standard contract for Peterborough United in the Premier League and became the captain of the Hong Kong Football Team. Now I am the first Hong Kong professional football player to grace the pitches in the Chinese Super League," said Mark. His commitment to excellence and improving his skills has always motivated him, similar to how Memorigin's artisans pursue professionalism and perfection.
The LOK16SPIRIT Tourbillon draws inspiration from football, featuring a football pattern at the center of the dial with elements from the Hong Kong national football team. Half of the football pattern is painted red and engraved with the team's symbol, the “Dragon”, and Mark's jersey number "HK16". Star reliefs adorn the day and night indicator at 3 o'clock and the power reserve indicator at 9 o'clock, commemorating Mark's back-to-back wins of the Youth Player of the Year award at the Hong Kong Top Footballer Awards in the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons.
The watch is equipped with a tourbillon movement that consists of 193 pieces of a subassembly module and 27 jewels, providing 80 hours of power reserve and operating at a vibration frequency of 28,800 oscillations per hour. The tourbillon device at the 6 o'clock position spins continuously like a whirlwind, not only showcasing the precise operation of the tourbillon's delicate parts, but also symbolizing Mark Lok's passion and dedication to football. Through continuous training and teamwork with his teammates, he strives to deliver the best performance!
