The Resilience & Achievement Award Ceremony organized by the International Fellowship Fund Ltd was held on 17 September. 27 awardees were recognized for their resilience and stern determination under the challenges brought by the epidemic. They include the head of the Communicable Disease Branch of the Centre for Health Protection Dr. Chuang Shuk-kwan, Hong Kong women’s table tennis team Doo Hoi-kem, Minnie Soo Wai-yam, and Lee Ho-ching, fencer Cheung Siu-lun, and Memorigin’s Founder & CEO William Shum.

William donated masks and Rapid Antigen Test kits to various organizations during the Covid-19 outbreak. Apart from assisting in organizing anti-epidemic campaigns, he visited the singleton elderly and grassroots families to understand their needs. He wrote to the newspaper expressing his views and recommendations on the social welfare policy. He has urged the government to assist SMEs in digital transformation and to provide online marketing subsidies. The Employment Support Scheme should be reviewed and relaunched. He also hoped the government to set up a timetable to fully reopen the border with the mainland so that the city can set to resume normalcy.

Receiving this award is both recognition and encouragement to William. “It was during the epidemic that I learned to maintain my positivity and take care of my mental health regardless of the challenges I encountered. There is no definite gain or loss. We can only live in the present and enjoy it. Over the past few years, I have concentrated on broadening my knowledge, spending time with my family, upgrading my company, and providing community service. I believe that the efforts I put in will bring me a brighter future,” said William.
