Hong Kong tourbillon brand Memorigin and renowned Austrian watch strap manufacturer HIRSCH have joined forces to launch a new line of eco-friendly watch straps. Memorigin’s Founder and CEO William Shum and HIRSCH CEO Matthaeus Hirsch, both advocates for environmental sustainability, engaged in sustained online discussions that have now culminated in this groundbreaking collaboration. Eddy, Country Manager of HIRSCH Hong Kong, recently visited Memorigin, presenting a formal collaboration agreement. The two parties signed the document, marking the commencement of this partnership.
The new straps utilize HIRSCH’s specially developed HIRSCH RECYCLE ARNE fabric, an innovative eco-material crafted from 100% recycled marine plastic waste sourced from the Mediterranean region. The fabric is woven with SEAQUAL Yarn, combining the luxurious texture of high-end wool with the functionality of performance sportswear. Beyond offering exceptional comfort, the material significantly contributes to preserving the cleanliness and ecological health of the Mediterranean Sea. The straps’ backing features Naturo Caoutchouc, a renewable natural rubber derived from desert plants that is hypoallergenic, further underscoring the commitment to sustainability.
Regarding the collaboration, Memorigin Founder and CEO William Shum remarked: “We are honored to partner with HIRSCH. This collaboration is not just a union of brands but a steadfast commitment to sustainable development. By integrating eco-conscious elements into luxury products, we aim to deliver high-quality craftsmanship while contributing to the protection of our planet. This innovation not only expands consumer choices but also exemplifies the responsibility the fashion industry must embrace moving forward. We hope these eco-friendly straps will inspire more brands to prioritize and implement sustainable practices, fostering harmony between fashion and the environment.”
