Father of Gundam Okawara Kunio 50th Anniversary Exhibition is currently taking place at Ocean Park from April 1st to June 4th, 2023. To commemorate this significant occasion, Hong Kong tourbillon brand Memorigin and Hong Kong Promotional Partners Worldwide Group (PPW Group) have collaborated to launch limited edition tourbillons for Father of Gundam Okawara Kunio’s 50th Anniversary Exhibition. The two tourbillon models, the GOD GUNDAM Tourbillon and Yatterman Tourbillon, are limited to 100 pieces each, paying tribute to the popular mechanical characters designed by Okawara Kunio. Memorigin has advertised the Father of Gundam Okawara Kunio’s 50th Anniversary Exhibition Series Tourbillon on the billboard outside the busiest Hong Kong Cross-Harbor Tunnel.

Memorigin's Founder and CEO, Mr. William Shum, personally presented a GOD GUNDAM tourbillon watch to Mr. Okawara Kunio, the creator of Gundam, at the launch ceremony. During the VIP signing event, Mr. Okawara Kunio also autographed and gifted his signature on the strap of William's Yatterman tourbillon watch, adding significant collectible value to the timepiece.

The GOD GUNDAM Tourbillon is based on a painting specially designed by the Father of Gundam, Okawara Kunio, for the Hong Kong exhibition. The painting depicts GOD GUNDAM standing atop Victoria Peak, overlooking the stunning view of Hong Kong. The exhibition will also showcase this colourful background painting for the first time, presenting the different beauties of the daytime and sunset. The tourbillon is designed based on this painting, with a skeleton dial intentionally crafted in golden metal carving, evoking the momentum of GOD GUNDAM entering its ultimate mode, "Shining Finger."

The watch is made of a silver stainless steel case and strap, with a blue movement. Through the sapphire glass, wearers can visualize the intricate operation of the tourbillon component, which is reminiscent of the mechanical sense of GOD GUNDAM. Additionally, the time markers on the watch have a hidden design concept. The markers from 10 o'clock to 2 o'clock are inspired by the mecha configuration on the helmet, while the marker at 12 o'clock features the chest armor configuration that only appears when the ultimate mode is activated, adorned with rubies. This attention to detail is a testament to the passion and dedication of our team in creating a watch that Gundam fans will truly appreciate.

On the other hand, the Yatterman Tourbillon features the iconic dog-shaped robot Yatter-wan design on a skeletonized dial, with the outer periphery of the dial inspired by the collar design of Yatter-wan. In addition to the exclusive Yatter-wan logo at the 12 o'clock position and Okawara Kunio's signature at the 6 o'clock position, the rest of the watch is designed with alternating rubies and blue sapphires, which are the main colors of Yatter-wan. The blue alligator strap with red stitching is also used to match the theme.

The constantly rotating tourbillon mechanism, placed between Yatter-wan and the dice-shaped robot Omochama, evokes the wheels on the feet of Yatter-wan, adding a dynamic touch to the watch.

Both models are equipped with a tourbillon movement composed of 155 components and 18 jewels, with a power reserve of 40 hours and a vibration frequency of 28,800 times per hour. The exquisite craftsmanship of the tourbillon shines in harmony with the mechanical design of Mr. Okawara Kunio, the father of Gundam. This series of tourbillons comes equipped with an exclusive paper sleeve and a certificate with Mr. Okawara Kunio's autograph, making them a must-have for fans.
