William Shum Celebrates His 10 Years of Entrepreneurship

Mr. William Shum, the Founder of the Hong Kong tourbillon watch brand Memorigin, turned 36 on 23rd May. He kicked off his ‘36’ with a series of epic events. Helping to celebrate his birthdays was his A-list group of friends in the entertainment industry and the political circles, including the Chairman of Unique Timepieces, Karson Choi, and his wife, Irene Wang, the Hong Kong professional snooker player, Marco Fu, the Chairman of Hong Kong Guoshu Association, Albert Wong, the Chairman of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, Kazaf Tam, and the artists, Alex Fong, Tong Hung, Jacquelin Chng, Evan Kai, and the designer, Lilian Kan, etc.

Rachel Chan, William’s wife, even prepared a money-pulling birthday cake for him. She wished the company continued success and prosperity. His staff also made a surprising superhero-themed birthday card. ‘This year marks the 10th anniversary of my brand. Unfortunately, the pandemic has taken a sharp economic toll on the retail industry and we were forced to face many challenges. My colleagues turned me into a superhero that encouraged me to keep working hard and to stay positive. That’s how I can lead the brand to a better future,’ said William.

When asked about his birthday wishes, William hoped that the pandemic could be over soon and things could get back to normal. To celebrate his ten years of entrepreneurship, William designed his watch for the first time. 'I have been working with different celebrities to promote the Hong Kong spirit for years. This time, I would like to launch a watch that is designed by me as a young entrepreneur. It will combine my 10-year experience and technologies. In terms of appearance, I asked many young talents for their opinions and preferences, hoping to create a watch that is both trendy and of high quality.’ In addition, the brand is now collaborating with independent Swiss watchmakers on watchmaking breakthroughs, aiming to build an international identity.
